Biographie

Leonardo was lucky to see the light of day under a mild summer sky, in a wonderland where sounds and perfumes bless our senses and charm our heart. His childhood was spent amidst shimmering colours, the smell of spices, musk and amber in a dreamlike world that inspired his entire being. Young and daring Leo grew up in this fascinating universe where beauty was a way of life. Often, he would meditate on this rare privilege.

She was inititiated to the world of esthetics while studying at the Fine Arts department in Casablanca. However, from the age of five, Leonardo already knew that a transcending love for poetry, design and painting dominated her life. She had inherited this love from her mother who had just died unexpectedly. In her many travels, this strange, marginal person filled with passion and contradiction developed a literary and artistic style made up of various cultures and traditions.

This multi-faceted artist switched from wood to oil painting, from ceramic arts to Egyptian mural fresco painting, while also decorating children or class rooms and serving his most faithful muse, poetry.

Leonardo thus created a multi-cultural and diverse work which provides a wide range of exotic fragrances, including a zest of North Africa, a Latin touch, a Slavic accent and a Gallic spirit, all united by Canadian open-mindedness.

Each of her works modestly exudes grace and sensuality, mystery and harmony, in a blend of figurative art, surrealism, magnetism and mannerism.

After creating an entire exhibition for his Majesty the late Hassan II, King of Morocco (25 oil paintings on linen cloth commemorating his 25 year reign), Leonardo left Morocco and settled in Canada. Using both verbal and visual imagery, this Montreal-based, self-employed artist modestly tries to enrich local contemporary art with her imagination and foreign sensitivity.
